Maria Varga
(Kovačica, 1954)

Maria Varga held her first solo exhibition. She had numerous solo and collective exhibitions in our country and abroad.

Maria Vargova paints country themes, traditional works, and moments of relaxation within the exterior and interior. Those are scenes of a warm atmosphere due to yellow and brown tones. However, the figures in her paintings are slim in stature, slightly uncharacteristic from how people from Vojvodina are typically represented. Maria united her love between tradition and the modern world.  That is how she became a developer of the group of artists who changed the method of painting and character of the so-called “Kovačica’s School”.
