Rozalija Markov
(Stari Lec, 1956 - Aradac, 2020)
Rozalija Markov was born on March 16, 1956, in Stari Lec. She lived and worked in Aradac, near Zrenjanin. She has been painting since 1985 and before she retired, she had worked as a nurse in general hospital “Đorđe Jovanović” in Zrenjanin.
The plain of Banat, fieldwork, backyards, animals, and everyday life are often found on canvas of Rozalija Markov. But she never painted pure landscapes, instead, she always included many actors working on fields. Her basic characteristic was that she painted many children who always appear somewhere around the grown-ups, helping them on the field and around the house. This is always a source of joy of life in Rozalija’s paintings and it can be seen on the faces of people in paintings, too.
Rozalija had numerous collective and individual exhibitions in Serbia and abroad, and she often participates in humanitarian actions, local and international colonies, etc. She has received many awards and recognitions. “My paintings bring an idyllic life of villages in Vojvodina, seasons changing, traditions, and everyday life of farmers.”
